The Jolly Postman

This half term our Power of Reading book is The Jolly Postman. The Jolly Postman delivers cards and letters to various fairy-tale characters, which we will get to explore in detail. He has a letter of apology for the three bears from Goldilocks, a postcard from Jack for the giant, a solicitor's letter on behalf of Little Red Riding-Hood for the wolf who ate grandma, and so on. There are six envelopes in the book, each containing letters, cards and various different things. This book help to bring the characters to life and is a great basis for leter writing.

This week we found a special postbox that had been delievered into class. Inside we found we found a package which had a special book inside. We are already having lots of fun exploring this wonderful book and cannot wait to see what we will get up to!

Today we had a special packgage waiting in our classrooms after we returned from play time. Cinderella had sent a letter asking us to design her some special shoes for a ball she is attending next week along with some

This week we have been focussing The Wicked Witch from the Jolly Postman. On Monday we had a strange letter asking us to make some special recipies for her as she had managed to lose her potion book! We set straight to work and thought about all the things that witches might like to put into their potions. We came up with a horrible list from bat wings to rats tails and much much more! Our next task was to think about what would happen if our potions were drank. We had great fun acting out the different results. Here are some photos of us showing what would happen!

After drinking these potions we became bats, frogs, rabbits and even zombies! We had so much fun and hopefully The Witch will enjoy our special recipies.
