
Over this half term we will explore the topic of 'Animals including Humans'. Children will get the opporunity to learn about the importance of nutrition and the different food groups as well as focussing on skeletons and muscles. Both classes are certainly very excited about this topic.

We began our Science topic by looking at nutrition. We learn't that there are seven different types of nutrients and it is important that our diet contains all of them in different amounts. We explored how each different type of nutrient plays an important part in keeping us healthy for example carbohydrates and fats provide us with energy whilst protein helps our bodies grow and repair.

We then went on to explore how our body requires fats to provide us with energy, learning that it is important to be aware that we eat the right type of fat. We leant that there are two types of fats: saturated and unsaturated and how eating the right amount of these can make a huge difference to how healthy we are.
