Welcome to Year 5

The Good Shepherd Appeal at Leeds Cathedral

On Friday 11th May, the Year 5 children from St Patrick's and Our Lady of Lourdes hosted The Good Shepherd Appeal at the Leeds Cathedral. We had a fantastic day meeting Bishop Marcus aswell as 96 other schools from the Diosese. The children performed their speaking, acting and movement beautifully alongside the choir who sang like angels.

Mrs Finelli and Mrs Handley welcome you to Year 5's webpage. Please keep checking back to see all of the interesting things we have done.

Monday is our Library day. Please remember your books to swap.

Tuesday is our P.E day. Make sure you have your indoor and outdoor kit in school throughout the half term.

Year 5 children will have the opportunity to take part in outdoor adventure activities with Pete on a Tuesday afternoon. We are very lucky to have Pete all year!

Maths- All children in Year 5 have a Maths homework book. The chidren will be set work to do in this book on a Thursday and the work will be handed in on the following Tuesday.

English- The children in Year 5 will be set a range of English tasks related to Spelling, Grammar, Punctuation, Creative Writing and Reading Comprehension. This work will be set on Wednesday and is to be handed in on the following Tuesday.

As the children move through Year 5 it is important they develop their vocabulary. The children have their library books to read at home. It is really important the children read at home and bring their books back to school on a regular basis.

Well done to the Year 5 children for organising our first Bun Sale in aid of CAFOD.

Mental Health Week 2018 - The theme this year is 'Being Ourselves!' We had so much fun playing with different props and having photos taken with our friends!

Well done to a selection of Year 5 & 6 children who took part in the Strictly Pennine Dance Festival 2018. The children danced beautifully to a song called 'How far i'll go' from Disney's Moana.
