Our Power of Reading book is The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas
Bruno finds himself moving from Berlin to an uknown place for his father's new posting.
Bored but curious, he explores the 'village' at the end of his garden where he makes the most unlikely friend in a time of war and strife.
Writing _ Look at Pobble 365 who have a daily photograph and writing activities to complete. You can show off to your family what good writers we have become.
Throughout Year Six we practise writing in a range of genres:
- Story writing with descriptive settings
- Persuasive writing
- Recounts
- Chronological and non-chronological reports
- Formal and informal letters
- Instructions
- Explanations
- Biographies
- Diaries
Sometimes it can be difficult to remember all the necessary features of the different genres, so here is a writing genre checklist to help!
Reading
We encourage the children to read a wide variety of genres too. We complete reading journal tasks for every book we read that help us further understand the text and meaning.
Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar
We have been working hard to learn lots of aspects of grammar, such as parts of speech, verb tenses and the functions of a range of punctuation in preparation for the SATs test we will cover in this area in May.
